Meditation Questions

Romans 7:1-6  Who are you married to?

  1. Explain this illustration of marriage given in these verses. What does it mean to die to the law?
  2. Are you married to the law, or married to Christ? Explain your answer. How do we "bear fruit to God?"
  3. What does it mean to serve God in the new way of the Spirit, rather than in the old way of just trying to keep the laws?

Romans 7:7-13  The Problem is Me!

    1. Is the law sin? Explain your answer. What is the function of the law?
    2. Why did the commandments of God, which are good, produce death in me?
    3. How does sin deceive us through the commandment?
    4. "Did that which is good, become death to me?" Explain your answer.

Romans 7:14-25  Frustration, Failure, Death, and Defeat

  1. Explain Paul's frustration in your own words from verses 14-20?
  2. What is the "flesh?"
  3. Describe the war that goes on inside of us. Who is fighting who?
  4. Why did Paul call himself a "wretched man?" How can we win this war?
