Matt & Marie Klassen

Marie and Matt Klassen have a passion for reaching Japan with the Gospel. Among all the people of the world Japan remains the largest homogenous least reached people group with less than 2% of the population declaring as Christian. Marie and Matt completed degrees in Ministry with a focus on Intercultural Studies including an 8 month internship in Japan working with a ministry team right in Tokyo while studying Japanese language and culture. While in Japan God was moving powerfully to change lives, and a church was formed of new believers who were ready to receive Christ. Now Marie and Matt are ready to continue the ministry and return to Japan long-term with an emphasis on family ministry through early education and discipleship. Marie and Matt are glad to be able to join Sunrise missionaries Jesse and Gypsi Town as partners in their work in the city of Ome, located near Tokyo.

Matt and Marie prayerfully plan to arrive in Japan in the spring of 2022. For the first year, the goal of their partnership will be to:

• Provide a meaningful alternative to the traditional  school system with a co-op of parents and teachers to provide student lead learning to Japanese students
• Plan and hold community outreach events to share life together with those in our community and provide an opportunity to share about our faith and hope in the Gospel
• Ongoing discipleship with seeking and believing Japanese men and women to provide hope through the gospel through intentional time together in God’s word.
• Develop further skill in Japanese language through immersion as well as intentional language study in a school or tutored setting
